Pre-Covid, I used to regularly stay at APA group hotels for busienss travel in Japan. The room rates were usually (by local comparison) reasonable and after time I got to know what to expect: e.g. compact fully functional room and bathroom; a public bath with an open air section on the roof of the hotel. This stay at APA Hotel Yamanote Otsuka Eki Hotel was my first. My initial impression was that the hotel conformed to the above expectations. However, there appeared to be several more details added to the room that made my stay feel even more comfortable and convenient. Also, I'd not stayed in Tokyo much over recent years, and never before in the Otsuka area of Tokyo. Compared to other areas where I used to stayed in Tokyo, the Otsuka appeared relatively quiet, compact. There were around four Vietnamese restaurants within metres of each other which suggests something of a local ethnic community. And one cafe ('Sakura'), located down a quite side street, is where I enjoyed a relaxing glass of beer or wine sitting outside of an evening, watching a diverse range of people walking past, many pausing to bow and pray at the entrance to a local shrine. Reflecting now, the atmosphere of the area around the hotel was quite relaxing and charming. As the the name of this APA hotel suggests, its conveniently located, a short walk uphill from the Otsuka Yamanote Line station. Next time I have a two-night business trip to this part of Tokyo, I'll check availabilty at this hotel.

This was my first stay and a APA hotel and when i look at coming back to Japan in the future it will be one of the hotel chains I mainly look at due to how awesome they are. So at about £50 per night for a double room that is awesome, especially as they have a spa and outdoor spa on the top floor of the building which was so relaxing to get in. the building looks fairly new and the reception area looked immaculate. I didn't use it, but they also have a deal with dominos pizza where you can get it delivered straight to your room, just give them the hotel number and your room number and it will be there. The free VOD service was good too as I was able to watch some movies (Doctor Strange 2 and Minions Movie) on the big screen without having to use my iPad.

It's your typical Japanese business oriented hotel - well cleaned, straightforward and having all the provisions available. The toilet was compact but had everything we needed including ammenities, including a bathtub. Yukata was provided, as well as slippers. The WiFi was fast, and the TV was able to connect to provide entertainment on the screen. There was also a public bath at the top floor for those who are interested to try it out, microwaves and vending machines are located near there was well.

Hotel with a very lovely Spa and very comfortable beddings, (I never had such good beddings in a hôtel and Im not the kind to sleep easily well), a very nice view from the room, very clean, Coffee, thea, sugar, milk, fridge with water, hair drier, air con, free wifi, all you need for bathroom cleaning (combs, hair dryer, tooth brushes, tooth paste, hair bands, shampoo, hair conditioner, soap and more). Lovely staff very professional. Very good value for money. I highly recommend APA Hotel.

The hotel is 4 minutes away by walk from the station and the line that runs there just hits almost every spots you wanna go to so it's extremly convinient. The place was very nice, the spa is perfect and everything in the room was clean, confortable and usefull. Note that if you have tattoos like me, you will need to cover them to access the spa, but they provide you patches for that which is super great ! Thank you to the staff for being very kind !
